UFPEG is THE premier risk consulting firm serving the electric utility industry and it's allied industries. Our competitors come from other industries offering fire protection services. We are engineers from THE UTILITY INDUSTRY and degreed in FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEERING...not mechanical, civil, science, etc...we are educated in fire protection engineering and gained our experience in power plants...not with other consulting firms, not in the insurance industry, not in the mechanical industry.

We have unprecidented access to the industry's foremost experts in dust control, spillage containment & procedural risk assessment. With this expertise, we can offer an unmatched menu of services....

FOSSIL FUELED PLANTS & PRB CONVERSIONS ARE OUR SPECIALTY.
Based on over 20 years experience, with 16 years working directly for a major nuclear/fossil utility, our offerings are unequaled in the following fields of expertise:

  • TARGETED COAL SYSTEM ASSESSMENTS

These assessments target the areas of the coal handling system most prone to causing dusting and spillage. We evaluate transfer points, load zones, open runs, roll back/carry back conditions, silos/bunkers and provide an unbiased (we don't sell equipment) technical report. For a full scope evaluation, we combine this with the fire protection assessment to give you a complete picture of the risks. We cover areas overlooked by other industry consultants such as excessive air velocities across silos and in transfer chutes. In a recent audit, we found that a new DEM designed chute was causing more dusting than the old chute because all the variables of the load zone were not taken into account.

  • FIRE PROTECTION ASSESSMENT & ENGINEERING

  • ERT/FIRE TEAM FORMATION & TRAINING
(Fight or Flight?...Incipient or Structual?...Is your local fire department prepared to confront the hazards YOU expect THEM to confront on site? Ususally not...we can help form & train your fire team and your local fire department)

(Technical assessment of your insurance carrier recommendations & negotiating alternative cost-justifiable approaches)
